Emergency and Urgent Care System Demand in Yorkshire and Humber: A retrospective analysis of routine data
This study is collecting three years of Hospital Episode Statistics Data from all acute trusts in Yorkshire and Humber from 2011/12 to 2013/14. The data analysis will establish patterns of demand for emergency care (ED attendance and emergency hospital admissions). The data will be analysed to identify avoidable attendances and admissions and establish potential target groups of patients who are amenable to an alternative response to reduce use of hospital services. Data analysis is underway and a definition of unnecessary attendance is established.
