Sheffield Physical Health and Psychological Wellbeing (IAPT) Project

The NHS Five Year Forward View (2014) requires an equal response to mental and physical health needs, and “towards the two being treated together”. The NIHR CLAHRC YH Mental Health and Comorbidity theme are supporting a programme of work entitled the Sheffield Physical Health and Psychological Wellbeing (IAPT) Project, working with Health Education Yorkshire and Humber to test innovative ways to integrate mental and physical health care delivery in primary and community care.

Funded by the Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund, this project is working towards the implementation and evaluation of dual trained health professionals specifically trained in Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) skills. It is part of a broader initiative under Sheffield Right First Time, testing innovative ways to integrate mental and physical health care delivery.
