Way Forward Doncaster: Implementation of the NICE Obesity guidelines into physiotherapy clinical practice

Obesity is a global public health issue and is known to contribute to many health problems. Implementation of clinical guidelines into practice can be extremely challenging. Way Forward Doncaster aims to address both these issues.

This is a collaborative project involving Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust, the Translating  Knowledge into Practice Theme of NIHR CLAHRC YH and the Chartered Society  of Physiotherapy. It takes a participatory approach, using co-design workshops with patients and clinicians/service stakeholders. Innovative strategies will be developed to facilitate and empower musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapists to engage in healthy conversations with all their patients, in line with the NICE obesity guidelines and NHS England Making Every Contact Count.
